BYD Yangwang HU spotted in spy shots
BYD is moving towards a higher segment in the luxury cars market, with the upcoming launch of a new executive sedan from its Yangwang brand, temporarily carrying the code HU. The car is estimated to reach up to 5.5 meters in length and cost over 1.13 million Saudi riyals, with the UAE being the unveiling location.
Ho Xiaoching, the general manager of Yangwang Sales, confirmed on October 21, 2026 that the new vehicle will debut in the UAE, without announcing its final commercial name or specifying the date and venue of the event. In contrast, reports suggest that Dubai may host the unveiling around November 5, 2026, a date that the company has not officially confirmed yet.

From Trucks of China to Gulf Lights

The anticipated appearance gained momentum after pre-production units of the HU were spotted being transported on trucks within China on October 25, coinciding with news that they are being prepared for shipment to the Middle East.
This followed the circulation of images and additional information about the vehicle’s testing and design on October 23, widening the image around a project that Yangwang is betting on to enter a more exclusive level of executive cars.
According to reports, the project aims to debut in Dubai around November 5. However, this announcement does not indicate the start of local sales; as dates for bookings or delivery, or the markets to receive the car first have not been announced.
The Sedan Gives Priority to the Rear Seat

The design of the HU suggests that Yangwang is aiming to offer a different experience compared to the U7, a sedan that combines performance and luxury within the brand’s lineup.
The long body, extended space behind the front doors, and dark rear glass all indicate a special focus on rear seat passengers. This direction places the car within the range of executive limousines designed for chauffeur-driven transport, while the interior design and features remain unannounced.
Estimates of the car’s length range between 5.4 and 5.5 meters, while reports suggest it may reach around 5500 mm, with a wheelbase exceeding 3350 mm. If these figures are confirmed, it will surpass the Maestro S800, which measures 5480 mm, by a limited margin.
The actual value of these dimensions will be evident in the space available for passengers, the arrangement of seats, and the comfort features that the company will choose.
Opposing Doors and Facade Evoking the Identity of U8
The HU adopts a more formal visual presence, with a high rectangular front grille interspersed with vertical elements, and vertically distributed separate lamps on either side of the front.
Reports link this treatment to the design language inspired by Chinese bronze vessels in U8 and U8L, giving the new sedan a clear connection to the identity of the larger Yangwang vehicles, differing from the sleek low-profile facade of its sister U7.
From the side, a relatively short front overhang and an extended rear section are evidenced, alongside a wide rear pillar and tinted glass enhancing cabin privacy.
However, the most prominent element is the rear doors that appear to be mounted on hinges at their rear edge and open in the opposite direction to the usual. This idea was also featured in teaser images released on September 23, 2026.
This design may grant passengers easier ingress and egress, depending on the shape of the door opening and the thresholds in the final version, in addition to its association with luxury limousine vehicles.
Power and Battery.. Leaks Preceding the Announcement
Alongside the images, ambitious technical information about the HU is circulating, including a power exceeding 1300 horsepower via four electric motors and an e⁴ architecture, equipped with DiSus-M suspension and rear wheel steering.
The leaks extend to the possibility of using a solid-state battery developed by BYD, with a targeted range exceeding 1200 km according to the Chinese CLTC standard.
However, these figures and specifications have not received official confirmation related to the project. Despite some Yangwang vehicles utilizing independent motor control technologies and suspension systems from the DiSus family, this is not enough to adopt them within the specifications of the HU.
Additionally, the range figure circulating is tied to the Chinese CLTC testing standard and cannot be considered a guaranteed estimate of the distance the car will cover under daily use conditions.
LiDAR Visible.. Its Functions Have Not Yet Been Revealed
Among the equipment appearing on the pictured model is a LiDAR sensor mounted above the windshield, a device that uses laser pulses to detect distances and surrounding objects, and can be utilized in advanced driving assistance systems.
However, the presence of the sensor does not reveal the final functions that will be available in the vehicle, nor does it confirm that it possesses full self-driving capability. The system’s capabilities and operating limits remain awaiting formal announcement.
A Two-Million Yuan Threshold Places HU in a New Position
Chinese media reports estimate that the price of the Yangwang HU may exceed two million yuan, roughly 1.13 million Saudi riyals.
This estimate places the project, if realized, above the starting prices of the U7 and U8L models, signaling the brand’s desire to reach a more exclusive buyer segment.
| Model | Chinese Price | Approximate Equivalent in Saudi Riyals |
|---|---|---|
| Yangwang U7 | Starting from 658,000 yuan | 371,000 riyals |
| Yangwang U8L Dingcang Edition | Starting from 1,458,000 yuan | 822,000 riyals |
| Yangwang HU | May exceed 2,000,000 yuan | More than 1,128,000 riyals |
The Size Brings It Closer to Maestro.. and the Price Raises Expectations

The Maestro S800, developed as part of a collaboration between Huawei and JAC, establishes itself among potential comparisons with the HU, considering the closeness in size and executive direction.
The price of the S800 in China ranges between 728,000 and 1.018 million yuan, equivalent to around 411,000 to 574,000 Saudi riyals. Thus, the circulating price for the HU project nears double that of the most expensive variant of its Chinese competitor.
This potential gap raises expectations regarding what Yangwang will provide inside the cabin, in terms of materials, insulation, rear seat features, and ride comfort.
The Mercedes Maybach S-Class is also in the comparison range due to its category and official presence. However, determining HU’s position against it requires understanding the car’s details and experiencing it, especially since the dimensions and opposing doors alone do not settle the level of competition.
Why Did Yangwang Choose the UAE to Unveil HU?
The choice of the UAE comes amid BYD’s presence through Al-Futtaim for Electric Mobility and the availability of the Yangwang U8 Arabian Edition in the local market.
The displayed price for this model is 659,900 UAE dirhams, equivalent to around 674,000 Saudi riyals, granting the brand an established presence in the luxury car segment prior to the arrival of its new project.
Additionally, choosing the UAE provides a platform for exposure to a Gulf and international audience interested in high-value cars. This step might signal the importance of the region in the brand’s expansion, but sales plans for the HU in the UAE or Saudi Arabia have not yet been announced.
The Upcoming Unveiling Before Testing Expectations
So far, HU remains a placeholder name, and the details of the motors, battery, suspension, weight, cabin, final price, and sales dates are outside the official announcement.
As the anticipated date for its appearance approaches, interest shifts from the car’s shape and size to what it will offer behind its long doors. The expected price positions it before a buyer who is waiting for a comprehensive experience of comfort, privacy, and quality of execution, details that the upcoming unveiling of Yangwang in the UAE will reveal.
